The Role

Southern Ports is recruiting an Infrastructure Engineer to join their team based at any of our locations Perth, Bunbury, Albany or Esperance. Reporting to the Infrastructure Lead the Infrastructure Engineer will support the Technology team in maintaining and improving Southern Ports Authority’s (SPA) Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) systems. This role focuses on the day-to-day management of IT infrastructure, including routine maintenance, basic troubleshooting, and ensuring the stability and performance of systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Responding to and resolving technology issues reported by end-users and stakeholders.
- Providing technical guidance and assistance to troubleshoot complex problems and ensure timely resolution.
- Conducting thorough analysis and diagnosis of issues to identify root causes.
- Coordinating with stakeholders and teams to escalate, track,



and communicate incident resolution progress.
- Develop, document and implement changes based on requests for change. Coordinating change approvals and scheduling change implementation activities.
- Performing routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, patches, and backups.
- Collaborating with project teams to provide technical expertise and input.
- Liaising with vendors and third-party service providers to address technical issues and support needs.
- Maintaining accurate records of configurations, incidents, changes, and documentation.

Required

- Tertiary qualification in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience and a proven track record in managing server and network infrastructure.
- Proficiency with Windows Server, hybrid Active Directory, and Azure.
- Strong background in networking, including SD-WAN, switching, and firewall configuration.
- Experience managing Windows-based servers within virtual platforms such as Azure, AWS, VMWare.
- Management of remote access, identity and Multi-Factor Authentication.
- Familiarity with configuration management tools
- Hands on knowledge of monitoring and logging tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft technologies
- Skilled in managing relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
- Background working with a variety of OT systems SCADA, DCS, PLCs, and industrial IoT devices.
- Knowledge of network configuration and maintenance for local and wide area networks, as well as knowledge of security configuration and management practices using hardware and software firewalls, IPSec and VPNs.
- Knowledge of web server management using IIS and/or other web service tools, including encryption certificate management.
- Windows Operating System management,



Active Directory, and Group Policy management.
- Strong scripting and automation skills using shell languages such as PowerShell, etc.
- Understanding of ITIL Framework

- Experience working in a relevant industry
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
- Certification in vendor technologies (Cisco, Microsoft, VMware).
- Other certifications related to infrastructure or applications
