Turn information into insight and insight into action. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Investigator to join the Tasracing Integrity Unit in a full-time role based at Ladbrokes Park Elwick in Glenorchy.

The Role:

This is an chance to work at the centre of racing integrity, where no two matters are the same. You will lead intelligence-driven investigations into potential breaches of racing and animal welfare regulations, follow complex lines of inquiry and turn evidence into clear, defensible outcomes. From interviewing participants and examining live betting activity to collaborating with police, regulators, stewards and animal welfare specialists, your work will help protect the fairness, safety and reputation of Tasmanian racing.

The role combines field-based investigation, intelligence analysis and high-quality case preparation, and may require work outside usual business hours when operational matters arise.

- Lead risk-based, intelligence-driven investigations into potential breaches of racing and animal welfare regulations.
- Get out in the field to inspect training and racing facilities alongside the Animal Welfare team and Stewards Panel.
- Assess reports of potential animal welfare concerns and take timely, appropriate action.
- Interview participants, follow lines of inquiry, and gather, preserve and evaluate evidence.
- Analyse intelligence from live betting activity, complaints,



referrals and other sources to uncover connections, patterns and emerging risks.
- Use a range of systems, data and information sources to build a complete investigative picture.
- Turn complex evidence into clear, accurate and persuasive briefs for inquiries, tribunals and court proceedings.
- Present evidence confidently and professionally at hearings and inquiries when required.
- Work closely with the Chief Racing Integrity Officer, Investigations Manager and Stewards to ensure investigations are legally sound and procedurally fair.
- Build professional relationships with industry participants, club managers and racing stakeholders while navigating sensitive and challenging matters.
- Collaborate with external agencies including Tasmania Police, RSPCA Tasmania, local councils and other integrity bodies.
- Contribute to a skilled, collaborative Investigations team and the broader Tasracing Integrity Unit.
- Keep developing your expertise through training, professional learning and exposure to diverse investigations.
- Champion the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity and animal welfare.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Essential

- Experience in conducting investigations, preferably in a regulatory, law enforcement, or racing industry context.
- Strong report writing skills and ability to prepare evidence for inquiries or court.
- Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent qualification (or progress toward).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage respectfully with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and integrity.




- Strong attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality.
- Ability to work outside usual business hours if required.

Highly Desirable:

- Knowledge of the Rules of Racing and relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Experience in intelligence analysis, sport integrity or financial crime, and a track record of using intelligence to inform strategic and operational outcomes.
- Proven experience in data analysis and knowledge of betting products, with the ability to simplify and visually present complex data (e.g. Excel, charts and reports).
