Job Description

This is a new and unique position that will sit at the heart of the local community, playing a key role in supporting and strengthening connections between sisters in the community the vision of the Institute leadership and the Institute's broader professional services., This position will work with the Sisters in the Institute's North-East Queensland community (largely based in Townsville) in living purposeful lives at the local level.
You will be their first point of contact for two-way information/communication and connection with the Institute leadership and, as required, the Institute's Professional Services teams.
Key Responsibility Areas
Your ability to build trust through empathy, care and respect is key. Taking a considered, holistic view of each individual's circumstances, you will provide supportive and sensitive guidance through evolving needs and take initiative to ensure the right support is in place at the right time.
1: Facilitating and supporting the living of community life among the Sisters
- Creating and sustaining relationships within the region with, between and on occasion on behalf of the community.
- Point of contact for Church and Civil authorities.
- Coordinate opportunities for Sisters to meet, and to facilitate/assist with local celebrations including funerals and jubilees.
- Support sisters to live Mercy purposefully.
2: Communications
- Ensure all Sisters have access to Institute, Community and other relevant communications.
- Ensure processes are in place for communicating important events and decisions to local Sisters.
3: Administration
- Ensure that all processes needed for the smooth conduct of community living are in place.
- Work collaboratively with the Professional Services teams, Community Support Assistant and Wellbeing and Health personnel.
- Ensure safeguarding requirements of the Sisters are undertaken and completed.
- Travel when required to visit Sisters and particular Institute meetings or gatherings.
- Other administrative tasks as required.
About the Candidate
- Experience in building and managing trusted relationships within community, social or people-focused environments.
- Confidence in communicating with groups in formal, respectful and emotionally sensitive settings.
- A genuine desire to work with the elderly and promote independence.
- Competent written and verbal communications skills and good computer skills.
- Senior Case Management or Relationship Management experience.
You will be paid an hourly rate commensurate with the requirements of the role.
Please note, you will need to have a current driver's licence and have the ability to travel in the Townsville region.
Work Environment
This is a 12 month maximum term part time position (with potential for extension) working 15 hours per week Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9.30am - 2.30pm (some flexibility around days and times)
