Salexo Consulting

Southern Sydney

I'm recruiting for a well-established building consultancy looking for a Junior DDA / Accessibility Consultant to join their Sydney team.

You don't need previous DDA experience. If you can read architectural drawings, understand the NCC/BCA and have a good understanding of Australian Standards, you'll be given the training and mentoring to develop into a specialist accessibility consultant.

The role:

Working alongside experienced consultants, you'll learn how to review architectural drawings, identify accessibility issues and provide practical solutions that meet the relevant requirements without unnecessarily compromising the design.

You'll be involved in

- Reviewing architectural drawings and documentation
- Assessing buildings against NCC, DDA and relevant Australian Standards
- Identifying and resolving accessibility and compliance issues
- Preparing technical reports and advice
- Working with architects, builders and developers
- Attending project meetings and site inspections
- Gradually taking responsibility for your own projects

As your knowledge and confidence develop, you'll take on more responsibility and have the opportunity to build a long-term career in a specialist area of the construction industry.

Who I'm looking for:

This could suit someone currently working in:

- Architecture or building design
- Construction management or project coordination
- Contract administration
- Building or compliance
- A related technical/design role

You don't need to tick every box. I'm more interested in someone who is technically minded, enjoys solving problems and genuinely wants to learn.

You'll ideally have:

- Experience reading and understanding architectural drawings
- Exposure to the NCC/BCA and Australian Standards
- Strong attention to detail
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- An interest in buildings, design and compliance
- The confidence to work with architects, builders and other construction professionals

A degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, Building, Design or a related discipline would be advantageous, but isn't essential.

What's on offer:

- $90K–$120K + Super, depending on experience
- Full training and ongoing mentoring
- Exposure to a broad range of building projects
- Office, site and project-based experience
- Clear career progression
- The opportunity to develop a specialist technical career

About the company: A well-established specialist building consultancy working with architects, builders, developers and other construction professionals across a broad range of Class 2 – 9 projects.

The business has a strong technical focus and is genuinely committed to developing people and building long-term careers.

About me:

I'm David Hamilton, a Registered Architect (NSW Reg. No. 11571). I spent more than 15 years working in architectural practice before moving into recruitment across the architectural, specification and broader built-workplace sectors.

If you're working in architecture, design or construction and considering a different direction, I'd be happy to have a confidential conversation about the role.

Send your CV to [email protected] or call me on (02) 9922 9622

*All conversations handled with discretion.
