About the Project

McConnell Dowell, in joint venture with Gamuda Australia, is delivering Sydney Water's Ryde to Pymble Pipeline Upgrade Project.

The project involves the design and construction of more than 10km of DN900 watermain between Ryde Pump Station and Wahroonga Reservoir using a combination of open trenching and trenchless construction methods. Once complete, the pipeline will strengthen Sydney's water network and improve water security for more than 1.6 million people across Sydney.

About the role

As a Junior Safety Advisor, you’ll play a key role in supporting protected and successful project delivery. With a strong site presence, you’ll work alongside construction teams, subcontractors and project leadership to identify risks, strengthen safety practices and promote a positive safety culture.

This role provides the opportunity to take ownership of safety outcomes on a significant infrastructure project while working within an experienced and supportive project environment.

Key responsibilities

- Provide visible safety leadership and maintain a strong site presence.
- Support teams to identify, manage and control project risks and hazards.
- Conduct site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Monitor subcontractor compliance with approved HSMP and CEMP requirements.
- Analyse safety data and support reporting, initiatives and continuous improvement.

- 2+ years of safety experience in construction or civil infrastructure.




- Cert IV in WHS or higher safety qualification.
- Knowledge of WHS legislation, systems and best practice.
- Confident communication skills with the ability to influence site teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety reporting systems.
