The key duties of the position include:

The Role The main function of the Weapons Technician is to conduct activities in support of test and evaluation activities including setup and firing weapon systems and munitions. Your duties may include:

- Perform straightforward armaments technical activities and associated tasks working to agreed priorities and outcomes.
- Understand and contribute to the development of technical documentation for review.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with team members and actively participate in team work and group activities.
- Work collaboratively and operate as an effective team member.
- Perform day-to-day tasks of Range Services, including maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Conduct the preparation and refurbishment of the equipment, ammunition and test sites for firing.
- Conduct non-technical training.
- Conduct operator maintenance.
- Support driving tasks within Range Services, including the operation and cleaning of Range Services vehicles used during any task conducted.

About our Team

Joint Proof & Experimental Unit (JPEU) is a pivotal component of the Explosive Ordnance Branch within Joint Logistics Command. At JPEU, we contribute towards advancing the capabilities of the Australian Defence Organisation through meticulous test and evaluation services. Our work encompasses both agile and static evaluations as well as environmental testing.

Our operations extend through two main ranges: Proof and Experimental Establishment (Pⅇ) at Graytown VIC, and Port Wakefield SA. The Graytown team conducts testing and evaluation of various calibre munitions and other explosive ordnances,



playing a crucial role in capturing and providing performance data essential for Defence strategies.

The Range Services Team ensures the availability of necessary resources to conduct testing across various activities. This includes static weapon mounted munitions tests, mobile weapon platforms evaluations, and ballistic protection trials.

Eligibility

Security Clearance

Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at “Negative Vetting Level 1”.

Mandatory Qualifications

This technical position requires the individual to have obtained a recognised Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 3 qualification in a relevant technical domain or relevant skills and work experience such that an individual can reasonably achieve a recognised AQF qualification if required by the position.
