About The Role

Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) is seeking an experienced maintenance professional to lead and manage maintenance services across the Wagga Work Centre facilities. This is a critical leadership role suited to a candidate with a background in high volume, critical risk operating environments, such as civil construction management, rail infrastructure, or similar settings where service failure is not an option. You will bring exceptional communication and customer service skills, and a genuine commitment to championing the system and patient safety as your first priority.

As the Maintenance Manager, you will be responsible and accountable for the effective delivery of maintenance activities for Work Centre facilities, ensuring regulatory compliance of assets and that maintenance functions support the delivery of health services. You will manage a multidisciplinary team within allocated resources while ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, standards and policies.

Key Accountabilities

- Managing a multidisciplinary team of admin, maintenance and trade staff and external contractors to deliver an efficient and effective maintenance program for plant, equipment, buildings and grounds
- Actively managing team and contractor compliance with relevant statutory requirements including Standards, Codes, Policies, Procedures and Guidelines
- Managing contracts to ensure performance outcomes in line with service level agreements, performance indicators, work practices and onsite compliance
- Managing effective recruitment, development and performance to build team capability and provide for succession within the Asset Management Unit
- Managing rosters, overtime and leave to ensure a reliable out of hours emergency on call service, with participation in on call roster and overtime as required




- Managing workload and workflows through AFMO (our Computerised Maintenance Management System based on Tririga) to ensure work tasks are effectively allocated, monitored and updated in accordance with agreed performance indicators
- Working collaboratively with the Asset Management Team to develop robust processes for managing asset information, technical documentation and reporting requirements
- Assisting the Capital Works team with renovations and construction of buildings, plant and equipment, including supervision of minor capital works projects as required
- Ensuring timely and accurate management of records, data and reports in compliance with NSW Health and MLHD systems, policies and procedures
- Coordinating and chairing various meetings to ensure adequate service provision has been established, communicated, reported and maintained
- Acting as a visible champion of system and patient safety, ensuring maintenance activity across the facility supports continuity of clinical service delivery

Essential Criteria

- Extensive experience leading maintenance, technical or asset critical operations within a high volume, critical risk environment (for example civil construction management, rail infrastructure, utilities or similar), where service failure is not an option
- Relevant tertiary or trade based qualifications and/or extensive experience in the management of maintenance, ideally within a health or similarly complex operating environment
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in staff management and a proven track record of motivating and leading a team of technical staff in a high pressure service setting

- Demonstrated exceptional communication and customer service skills,



with the ability to build trust and work collaboratively with clinical and non clinical staff, managers and external agencies
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of plant and equipment maintenance and repair strategies, including planning and scheduling
- Demonstrated computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and/or maintenance systems) with the ability to write reports and navigate databases and building management systems
- Demonstrated high level organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise workload, meet tight timeframes and manage competing demands
- National Police Check – Aged Care and Vaccination Category A compliance
- A current Class C drivers licence and willingness to travel within the Health Service
