Manager, Data Platform Engineering

About the role The systems and services you improve support important interactions for customers, providers, employers and employees across NSW. This is an opportunity to shape the future of icare's enterprise data platform and influence how data powers better outcomes across the organisation. You'll provide technical leadership across data engineering, cloud platforms, integration and platform capabilities while working with senior stakeholders to guide strategic technology decisions. Joining a growing Data, Analytics, Automation & AI function, you'll help establish modern engineering standards, build technical capability and create the foundations for advanced analytics, automation and AI-driven services.

What you'll be working on

- Define and evolve the technical vision, architecture and roadmap for icare's enterprise data platform to support future business and technology needs.
- Establish engineering standards, governance frameworks and up-to-date delivery practices that improve platform reliability, scalability and security.
- Lead the development of cloud-based data platform capabilities that enable trusted, reusable and high-value data products.
- Guide complex technical decisions and provide expertise across data engineering, cloud platforms, integration, automation and AI readiness initiatives.
- Build and grow a high-performing engineering practice by developing technical leaders, sharing best practice and fostering continuous improvement.
- Partner with architecture, security, operations and business teams to deliver data platform solutions that create long-term value.
- Champion innovation across AWS,



Snowflake and modern cloud technologies to strengthen data capabilities and support emerging AI opportunities.

What you'll bring

- Significant experience leading enterprise-scale data platform, cloud engineering or data engineering teams within complex organisations.
- Deep expertise with modern cloud data platforms, including AWS, Snowflake and contemporary data engineering practices.
- Experience establishing engineering standards, architecture governance, delivery frameworks and platform roadmaps that drive sustainable outcomes.
- Ability to translate business and analytical needs into scalable, secure and reusable technology solutions while providing clear technical leadership.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A track record of building engineering capability, mentoring technical leaders and creating high-performing teams focused on delivery excellence.
- Experience with data warehousing, data platform modernisation, Python, SQL and modern cloud ecosystem technologies is highly regarded.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Engineering or a related discipline.
