Manager Occupational Health & Safety and Emergency Management

Maryborough District Health Service, Central Goldfields, Victoria

Full-time, Grade 7 (HS7), $125,000 plus generous salary packaging

Relocation and accommodation support available

Maryborough District Health Service is looking for a Manager to lead health, safety and emergency management across its three campuses in Maryborough, Avoca and Dunolly. In a rural health service this work carries a lot of weight. Keeping staff, patients and visitors safe day to day, and making sure the service is ready to respond when something goes wrong, sits with the person in this role.

Reporting to the Executive Director, People and Capability, you'll have one direct report (the OHS Business Partner) and work closely with the Health and Safety Representatives across the service. You'll look after the OHS management system from top to bottom: legislative compliance and training, the VHIMS incident reporting and investigation process, risk assessments and controls, and the KPI reporting that goes to the OHS Committee, Executive and Board. The other half of the job is emergency management, which means designing, testing and running the plans that keep the service ready for fire, flood, pandemic, power outage or mass casualty, and building the working relationships with local fire, police, council and WorkSafe that those plans depend on.

You'll chair the OHS Committee, lead the Emergency Planning Committee, and be the person people look to on safety across the organisation.

About you

- Qualified and experienced.

You hold tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (or a related field) and have at least three years in a leadership role.

- Grounded in the legislation. You know contemporary OHS legislation well, from hazard identification, assessment and control through to inspections, audits and accident investigations, and you understand how accreditation and WorkSafe standards apply in a healthcare setting.

- Health service background. You've worked in a health service before, ideally a regional or rural one, in health and safety and/or emergency management.

- Good on investigation and follow-through. You can lead incident investigations, see corrective actions through, and show improvement in safety outcomes over time.

- Good with people. You build relationships easily across every discipline and level, and you're comfortable interpreting data, writing policy and delivering training.

Why join MDHS

- A senior, hands-on role. Safety and emergency preparedness across three campuses, reporting to the executive and answering to the Board, with the standing to shape how the whole service approaches it.

- A valuable place to live. Maryborough sits in the Central Goldfields with space, an easy commute, and both Ballarat and Bendigo within reach.

- A service worth joining. MDHS is one of the largest employers in the region and looks after its people.

If you're interested, I'd love to hear from you. Send your CV and Cover Letter to *@latituderecruitment.com.au or call me for a confidential chat about the role 0421 006
