Stawell Gold Mines is seeking a motivated and experienced Mine Geologist to join our Geology team.

Reporting to the Mine Geology Superintendent, you will coordinate daily mine geology activities and provide accurate, timely geological information to support underground mining operations. You will play an important role in minimising waste, identifying and tracking ore, and maximising ore recovery and grade.

Key responsibilities

- Prepare drill work plans in accordance with drilling schedules.
- Conduct drill-site inspections and review drill core.
- Coordinate hole setup and monitor drill-hole deviation.
- Complete accurate geological and structural core logging.
- Undertake face, wall and backs mapping, including drafting.
- Manage channel sampling data and associated quality assurance and quality control.
- Prepare cut sheets for ore development.
- Inspect development headings and stopes to optimise ore and waste allocation.
- Support the correct movement and delivery of ore.
- Prepare daily and weekly production and drilling reports.
- Assist with monthly mine-to-mill reconciliation and reporting.
- Review stope designs before mining and prepare stope notes.
- Complete 3D geological and photogrammetry modelling.
- Work closely with mining, engineering, survey, processing, drilling and technical services teams.
- Actively contribute to a secure, healthy and environmentally responsible workplace.

About you To succeed in this position, you will ideally have:

- A Bachelor of Science majoring in Geology.




- At least 2 years’ professional experience in an underground mining environment.
- Experience in diamond/core logging and an understanding of mining and exploration activities.
- Knowledge of drilling, sampling and assaying techniques.
- An understanding and practical experience with grade control, grade reconciliation and grade estimation methodologies.
- Strong computer, communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to plan, prioritise and work effectively in a production-focused environment.
- A high level of accountability and attention to detail.
- A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively within a small team of professionals.
- A current manual driver’s licence.
