Led by Richard James, RIVICA brings 34 years of operational investigative experience across two countries and two legal systems. Our work includes corporate and workplace investigations, surveillance, fraud and misconduct matters, skip tracing, background investigations, digital forensics, technical surveillance countermeasures and litigation-support investigations.

We operate from South Melbourne and place a strong emphasis on evidence integrity, confidentiality, chain of custody, documented methodology and reporting that can withstand legal scrutiny.

As our digital forensic workload continues to increase, we are expanding our specialist subcontractor network to ensure we can provide clients with responsive access to suitably qualified practitioners, while maintaining the professional and evidentiary standards expected of RIVICA.

Role Description

RIVICA Investigations & Covert Solutions Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Mobile Device Forensic Examiner to support our digital forensic workload on an independent subcontract basis.

This role is suited to an established forensic practitioner or specialist provider with their own mobile forensic equipment, software licences, secure examination environment and demonstrated experience examining Apple iOS and Android devices.

The examiner will receive physical devices for authorised forensic examination, generally through our South Melbourne office, and will be responsible for maintaining appropriate continuity, chain of custody and evidentiary integrity throughout the examination process.

Assignments may include forensic acquisition, extraction and analysis of mobile devices, examination for suspected compromise or malicious software, recovery and interpretation of relevant artefacts, validation of findings,



and preparation of clear, professional and court-defensible forensic reports.

The examiner must be able to operate independently, maintain secure handling and storage of devices and extracted data, document methodology and software versions used, and provide findings capable of standing up to legal and evidentiary scrutiny.

Applicants must be based in Melbourne, or able to reliably attend Melbourne for physical device handover and return.

This is not an employee position. Work will be offered on a matter-by-matter basis according to client demand and availability. The successful subcontractor will retain responsibility for their own equipment, licences, insurance, business operations and technical environment.

RIVICA is seeking a practitioner who can provide reliable turnaround, clear communication and consistent professional standards as part of an ongoing subcontract relationship.

Role Description Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should demonstrate the following:

- Formal training in mobile device forensics, digital forensics or a closely related discipline.
- Current industry-recognised mobile forensic certification. Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner (CCME) is preferred, or equivalent advanced mobile forensic certification and demonstrated practical experience.
- Current Cellebrite CCO, CCPA, CASA or equivalent qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated professional experience conducting forensic examinations of Apple iOS and Android mobile devices.
- Practical experience using recognised forensic acquisition and analysis platforms, preferably including Cellebrite Inseyets UFED and Physical Analyzer.
- Demonstrated understanding of logical,



file-system and physical acquisition methodologies and their respective limitations.
- Experience identifying, analysing and documenting mobile device artefacts, application data, deleted data and other relevant digital evidence.
- Knowledge of mobile device compromise, spyware, malware and unauthorised applications will be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated understanding of forensic evidence preservation, chain of custody, continuity, integrity and defensible examination methodology.
- Experience preparing clear, technically accurate and court-defensible forensic reports.
- Ability to explain technical findings, methodology and limitations in terms understandable to investigators, legal practitioners and clients.
- Experience providing expert evidence, affidavits or technical assistance in legal proceedings will be highly regarded.

Applicants must also:

- Operate their own suitably equipped and secure forensic examination workplace.
- Hold their own current forensic software and hardware licences appropriate to the work undertaken.
- Ensure those licences permit commercial forensic examinations conducted for third-party clients.
- Maintain appropriate RF-isolation capability, including access to a Faraday enclosure or equivalent forensic isolation environment.
- Maintain appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
- Hold an active Australian Business Number and operate as an independent business or subcontractor.
- Be based in Melbourne, or have reliable capacity to attend South Melbourne for physical receipt and return of evidentiary devices.
- Be willing to comply with RIVICA's confidentiality, privacy, information-security, evidence-handling and subcontractor requirements.

- A university qualification in digital forensics, cyber security, computer science or a related discipline is desirable but not essential where substantial practical forensic experience and recognised industry certification can be demonstrated.
