Full-time | Base Salary + Super + Performance Bonus
We are seeking an experienced New Business Manager to lead business growth, strengthen our market presence and build a high-quality pipeline of remedial construction opportunities across Sydney and NSW.
This is a senior and influential position for someone who understands that successful business development is not simply about generating leads. It is about identifying the right opportunities, building trusted client relationships, protecting commercial outcomes and working closely with estimating, operations and project delivery teams to convert opportunities into profitable, deliverable projects.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the company’s annual turnover objective of $15 million plus.
About The Role:
You will be responsible for developing and executing the company’s business development strategy, from initial market engagement and lead qualification through to tender positioning, negotiation, project award and formal handover to the delivery team.
You will focus on developing quality opportunities across:
- Strata residential buildings
- Commercial and retail assets
- Government and education facilities
- Industrial properties
- Property and asset management portfolios
You will build strong relationships with strata managers, owners corporations, building consultants, engineers, quantity surveyors, property owners, asset managers, facility managers, project managers and government procurement teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement an annual business development plan aligned with the company’s strategic and financial objectives.
- Identify priority sectors, target clients, consultants, referral partners and suitable project opportunities.
- Generate, qualify and progress leads that align with the company’s capabilities, preferred project types, locations and commercial expectations.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with key clients, consultants, decision-makers and industry partners.
- Conduct regular client meetings, site meetings and capability presentations.
- Understand clients’ asset portfolios, procurement processes, project requirements and service expectations.
- Work with estimating, operations and commercial teams to assess opportunities and make informed bid or no-bid recommendations.
- Coordinate client briefs, tender requirements, site inspections, clarifications and submission timeframes.
- Develop project-specific win strategies, value propositions and tender presentations.
- Support tender interviews, commercial negotiations and final client discussions.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and prepare pipeline, conversion, forecast and market activity reports.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
- Coordinate structured handovers of secured projects to the estimating, operations and delivery teams.
- Maintain client relationships throughout project delivery and support repeat and referral business.
- Represent the company professionally at industry events, presentations, forums and networking functions.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:
- A minimum of five years’ business development experience within construction, remedial works, building services or a closely related sector.
- A demonstrated record of securing and converting major construction opportunities.
- Strong knowledge of construction procurement, tendering, client engagement and project handover.
- Commercial awareness, including an understanding of margin, contract risk, pipeline forecasting and operational capacity.
- Strong industry relationships or a demonstrated ability to quickly establish a relevant network.
- Excellent written communication, presentation,
negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with estimating, operations, commercial and project delivery teams.
- A current driver licence and the ability to attend client meetings, project sites and industry events.
Additionally, experience or industry relationships in one or more of the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Façade remediation
- Waterproofing
- Structural rectification
- Concrete repairs
- Cladding replacement
- Heritage restoration
- Strata and owners corporation projects
- Building and engineering consultancy
- Property and asset management
- Government procurement
- CRM, estimating, tender or construction management systems
