This opportunity is for new graduate Occupational Therapists to join our Occupational Therapy team at Townsville University Hospital.
This is a twelve-month position involving two six-month rotations within a tertiary hospital setting.
About the opportunity
As a recent graduate Occupational Therapist, you will be delivering Occupational Therapy clinical services as a member of a multidisciplinary team to stakeholders/customers of Queensland Health.
The successful applicant will be allocated rotations in acute surgical or medical wards and in a rehabilitation setting. Supervision will be provided to optimise clinical and professional skill development and learning throughout this twelve-month period. Professional development opportunities are also available to enhance clinical experience.
New graduates are additionally supported by the Clinical Education Support Officer who provides support and mentorship during this transitionary period and facilitates a peer group community of practice and peer group learning opportunities.
The new graduate position has dedicated time provided to complete the support program the pathway equivalent to 1 day/fortnight, which enables clinical capability development and support for the transition from student/early career professional to occupational therapist. You will be working in a supportive and friendly department where autonomy and innovation are highly valued, and ongoing learning and professional development opportunities are encouraged and supported.

Role requirements
- The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Occupational Therapy, and current registration with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.
- This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required.
- Roster: This position is required to work on weekends on a rostered basis through the Department's Weekend Service.
- This is a VPD risk role.
