Overall Job Purpose

As the Ocean Freight Supervisor, you will lead and develop a team responsible for the efficient execution of ocean freight operations, ensuring compliance with DHL's service standards and regulatory requirements. You will act as the primary escalation point for operational exceptions, customer concerns, and process improvements while driving team performance and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Ocean Freight Specialists.
- Ensure operational activities are completed in accordance with DHL Global Forwarding SOPs and service commitments.
- Drive productivity, efficiency, and gross profit performance across the team.
- Monitor operational performance through established KPIs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Act as the first point of escalation for customer, supplier, and operational issues.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to support retention and identify growth opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, quality, and company procedures.
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Operations, Product, Warehouse, and Transport teams.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and customer excellence.




- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational effectiveness.

- To build rapport and trust with customers by being informed about customers’ business and the market.
- To assess the type and size of customer needs.
- To recommend solutions based on customer needs by using industry knowledge.
- To connect a customer need with a DHL solution and the value it may create for the customer.

To be successful you will need: All employees are expected to demonstrate our core behavioural dimensions to be successful at DHL Global Forwarding.

- Previous experience in International Freight Forwarding, preferably within Ocean Freight.
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience.
- Robust understanding of import and/or export operations.
- Excellent customer relationship management skills.
- Commercial awareness with a focus on profitability and cost management.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working with freight management systems and operational reporting.
- Commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.
- CargoWise experience (advantageous)
- Full right to work in Australia
