YOUR NEW ROLE
This position is responsible to ensure compliance with the application of SOH security obligations by all Internal & External stakeholders. The position is responsible for reporting security related issues and incidents to the Emergency Planning and Response Group management via SOH Emergency Planning and Response Group reporting procedures.
This position is responsible to maintain the integrity of the SOH Security Plan to ensure the protection of the Sydney Opera House as a building of particular cultural significance and a national icon.

SHIFT PATTERNS For full time applicants – you will work a rotating roster pattern of 3 days on, 3 days off inclusive of weekends and public holidays. Shifts are typically 0600 – 1800 and 1800 – 0600 and on occasion 1100 – 2300.
For casual applicants – shifts are typically 0600 – 1800, 1400 – 2300 and 1800 – 0600. Casuals are asked to provide availability on a monthly basis. Work varies throughout the year and additional work is offered as needed to provide cover for unplanned leave. We are looking for casuals who can provide a range of availability across the week inclusive of weekends and public holidays.
ARE YOU THE ONE?
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
- Current Class 1A Security Licence,
a Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate and Provide First Aid Certificate.
- Security industry or related experience, including operational security duties, crowd control, search procedures and the ability to provide and maintain excellent customer service.
- Thorough and comprehensive contemporary operational security or related experience in a high profile and high public visitation site characterised by high levels of constantly changing activity and 24 hour seven days per week coverage.
- Experience in delivering security or related services within heightened level of threat and experience of a multitude of security incident types and responses and in liaising with outside security agencies and emergency services, including crowd management experience.
- Strong verbal communication, interpersonal, negotiation, persuasive, facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated experience in incident reporting and sound written communication skills.
- Working With Children Check (WWCC), understanding of policies and procedures relevant to the workplace and participate in relevant security training.
- Ability to meet physical fitness standards in accordance with SOH ‘Fitness for Duty’ policy.
- Physical capability and ability to stand for long periods of time outside in all weather and low light conditions.
- Wearing an earpiece and radio are essential for safety and communication across teams.
- For Casuals, availability to work flexible schedule, that may include midweek, weekend and public holiday shifts.
