Step 2 Allied Health provides quality Allied Health, and disability support services to clients across regional Victoria and beyond. The team consists of Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Behaviour Support Practitioners, Counsellors, Plan Managers, Therapy Assistants and Support Workers. About the Role:

We are looking for an Occupational Therapy Driving Assessor (OTDA) who is committed to making a positive impact on their clients' lives, developing their skills, and supporting people in achieving their driving goals.

Tasks & Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to determine a client's cognitive & physical fitness to drive.
- Undertake in-clinic and on-road assessments (in partnership with qualified specialist driver trainers where required).
- Prepare detailed assessment reports including recommendations for licence conditions, restrictions, or vehicle modifications.
- Provide evidence-based guidance to medical professionals, licensing authorities, clients, and families.
- Develop and implement driver rehabilitation plans when appropriate (e.g., adaptive equipment training, route planning, driving strategies).
- Recommend and coordinate vehicle modifications or assistive driving technology.




- Educate clients and their support networks about assessment outcomes and safe driving practices.
- Liaise with GPs, specialists, rehabilitation teams, licensing authorities (e.g., VicRoads, TAC, NDIS, Worksafe), and driver trainers.
- Work collaboratively with internal clinical teams and contribute to case conferences or multidisciplinary meetings.
- Ensure all assessments and documentation meet professional, legal, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain up-to-date records in line with organisational policies and privacy laws.
- Attend relevant training and workshops to maintain and update knowledge in driver assessment.
- Engage in reflective practice and contribute to the ongoing development of driver assessment services.
- Attendance at regularly scheduled internal supervision, professional development and team meetings.
- Contributing to a supportive team environment, providing support and/or supervision to team members as appropriate.

Essential

- Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
- Registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Completion of post-graduate training in Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment and Rehabilitation.
- Satisfactory Working With Children's Check (Employee).
- Current Driver's Licence.




- Satisfactory National Police Check for Employment in Disability.
