About the role

Canberra Painting Service is seeking a skilled and dedicated Painter to join our team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a reputable painting service provider based in Canberra, ACT. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality painting and decorative finishes to residential and commercial properties across the Canberra region.

Your work will be instrumental in enhancing the appearance and longevity of our clients' properties, and you will play a key role in maintaining Canberra Painting Service's reputation for excellence and attention to detail.

What you'll be doing

- Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, filling and priming walls, ceilings and other surfaces to ensure optimal paint adhesion
- Apply paint, varnish and other finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other professional tools
- Mix and match paint colours to customer specifications and ensure consistency throughout projects
- Protect floors, fixtures and furnishings using drop sheets, tape and other protective coverings
- Follow health and safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their requirements and provide updates on project progress
- Maintain and care for painting equipment and tools to ensure they remain in good working condition
- Work efficiently to meet project deadlines whilst maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Assist with site preparation, including moving furniture and removing fixtures as required

What we're looking for





- Trade qualification or recognised certification in painting and decorating, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven experience as a painter in both residential and commercial settings
- Solid knowledge of various painting techniques, surface preparation methods and finishing standards
- Proficiency with painting equipment including brushes, rollers, spray systems and other professional tools
- Ability to work safely and comply with relevant health and safety legislation and workplace practices
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality finishes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with clients and team members
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in various positions for extended periods
- Reliability, punctuality and a qualified approach to work
- Knowledge of colour theory and the ability to advise clients on colour selection would be advantageous
- Experience with decorative painting techniques such as faux finishes or feature walls would be beneficial
