Contract Parking Officer opportunity in Western Sydney
Your new companyA community-focused local government organisation in Western Sydney is seeking a Parking Officer to join its compliance team on a contract basis. This is an opportunity to contribute to safe, accessible and well-managed public spaces while delivering a fair and customer-focused service to the community. The role will suit someone who enjoys working outdoors, engaging with people and managing a varied workload in a busy public-facing environment.
Your new roleAs a Parking Officer, you will undertake field patrols across designated areas, monitor parking activity and respond to parking-related concerns. You will apply relevant rules, policies and procedures consistently while communicating clearly and professionally with members of the public.
Your responsibilities will include
- Conducting parking patrols across streets, public parking areas, school zones, town centres and shopping areas
- Monitoring compliance with parking restrictions and relevant road rules
- Issuing penalty notices or warnings where appropriate
- Responding to parking complaints, enquiries and service requests
- Providing clear information to members of the public
- Maintaining accurate notes, reports and compliance records
- Gathering evidence and preparing documentation for further review or court proceedings
- Reporting damaged or irregular signage and other public amenity concerns
- Identifying issues such as footpath obstructions, abandoned items, littering and illegally dumped waste
- Supporting parking education and community safety initiatives
- Working effectively with colleagues to complete daily operational priorities
This is an active, field-based position involving regular public interaction. You will need to remain calm, respectful and professional, including when conversations become challenging.
What you'll need to succeedTo be successful in this role, you will bring strong customer service skills and the confidence to work with a diverse range of people. You will be able to follow established work practices, communicate clearly and complete your duties accurately within required timeframes.
You will also demonstrate:
- Customer service experience gained in a challenging or public-facing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence managing complaints and difficult interactions professionally
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- The ability to work independently and manage allocated responsibilities
- Sound computer literacy and accurate record-keeping skills
- Good judgement, attention to detail and problem-solving capability
- The ability to follow established policies, procedures and work practices
- A current NSW Driver Licence
- Willingness to undertake relevant infringement and regulatory training
Previous experience in parking patrols, local government, compliance or regulatory enforcement will be highly regarded but is not essential.
