Your Opportunity
This role will manage the payroll end to end, as the stand-alone payroll specialist with close links to the Finance and HR teams, and the broader business. It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your skills in providing a high quality payroll service across the business.
You will ensure the payroll is accurate, timely and compliant with relevant awards and industry regulations.
You will run the fortnightly payroll for around 150 permanent and casual staff, using MicrOpay. This will include managing pay day superannuation, setting up new employees, dealing with leave entitlements and terminations and resolving issues through your ability to listen, interpret, analyse and resolve payroll anomalies.
Reporting to and working closely with finance, the role also requires an ability to manage the accounting side of payroll, from month end reporting and payroll reconciliations to budgeting, forecasting and payroll data analysis and preparing and lodging statutory payroll reports, including Single Touch Payroll (STP). You will also work on ad hoc audits and other tasks and projects within the finance team, as needed.
You will work closely with HR on such things as workforce planning and salaries, budgets and variations.
You will need to quickly pick up, interpret and implement complex Multi-Enterprise Agreements (MEA) so proven ability to do this, is essential to succeed in the role and to being able to provide MEA expertise to the organisation.
You will pride yourself on maintaining confidentiality and controls and meeting deadlines. Also essential is your focus on attention to detail and accuracy and your ability to report on this and use your problem solving and communication skills to resolve any issues as they arise.
Your Profile
You are searching for a Part-Time role and you are a Payroll Specialist who can manage end to end payroll, ideally with education industry experience, who is ideally looking for a 3 day a week role, with a great team and organisation.
NOTE: Working 2, 3 or 4 days a week will potentially be considered for the right candidate.
You must:
- Offer strong MicrOpay (or similar) experience.
- Have Multi-Enterprise Agreement (MEA) experience, ideally in the education industry and if not, then a proven ability to interpret and apply industry specific enterprise agreements.
- Have proven ability to do year end STP reporting using MicrOpay and an ability to work with auditors and the broader finance team throughout the year.
- Be able to hit the ground running, bringing your specialised experience managing a payroll, end to end.
- Have a curious and continuous improvement mindset.

- Salary guide is $100,000 - $130,000 plus super pro-rata, depending on experience. (Prorated for the days worked).
