Mildura
Experienced in payroll and looking for a role that fits around your life?
MADEC Australia is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Mildura team on a permanent part-time basis, working three days per week.
This is a hands-on payroll role within a diverse organisation, supporting employees across different programs, employment arrangements and locations. You'll work with everything from standard employee payroll through to more complex labour hire and PALM workforce requirements.
If you're confident navigating the detail behind a pay run, know your way around Australian payroll requirements and enjoy being the person who can investigate and resolve a discrepancy, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be responsible for
Working closely with our HR and Finance teams, you'll help ensure our employees are paid accurately, compliantly and on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing payroll, adjustments, back pays, allowances and other variations
- Reviewing approved timesheets and ensuring hours and conditions are applied correctly
- Processing employee commencements, terminations and leave
- Applying Awards, EBAs, employment contracts and relevant legislation
- Managing complex payroll deductions for PALM workers, including authorised accommodation, transport and other deductions
- Reconciling pay runs and investigating discrepancies
- Processing superannuation, salary packaging and other employee deductions
- Maintaining accurate employee payroll records and entitlements
- Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers
- Preparing payroll and finance reports and assisting with audit requirements
- Supporting payroll reconciliations and ensuring alignment with the General Ledger
- Identifying opportunities to strengthen payroll processes, systems and controls
What you'll bring
We're looking for someone with practical payroll experience and a strong understanding of what sits behind the numbers.
You'll ideally have:
- Demonstrated experience in end-to-end payroll processing
- Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and requirements
- Experience interpreting Awards, EBAs and varying employment conditions
- Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
- Confidence working with payroll systems, spreadsheets and financial data
- The ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities
- Strong communication skills and a helpful, service-focused approach
Experience within labour hire, PALM, seasonal workforces or other complex payroll environments would be particularly valuable but isn't essential.
A relevant qualification in Business Administration, Accounting or a related discipline will be well regarded, or you may bring equivalent payroll experience.
Why MADEC?
MADEC is a national not-for-profit organisation delivering employment, labour hire, education and community programs across Australia.
For this role, you'll have the opportunity to use your payroll expertise in an organisation with genuine complexity and variety – while enjoying the flexibility of a permanent three-day working week.
You'll join a collaborative team, work closely with HR and Finance, and have the opportunity to contribute ideas and improvements rather than simply process transactions.
If you're an experienced payroll skilled based in Mildura and a permanent part-time opportunity sounds like the right next move, we'd love to hear from you.
Apply now to join the MADEC team.
