We’re working with a leading national firm who are ready to welcome a Lawyer or Associate to its established Planning & Environment practice.
This is a particularly exciting opportunity for a P&E; lawyer who wants to build genuine breadth in their practice. The team acts predominantly for high-end developers and large land-owning clients , while also maintaining long-standing relationships with a number of Council clients.
Rather than being confined to one side of the practice, you’ll work across a healthy mix of advisory and litigation matters , giving you exposure to the full life cycle of planning and development issues.
The Opportunity
You’ll work closely with the team, including the Partner and experienced senior lawyers who have built their careers in Planning & Environment law.
The team has a solid and consistent pipeline of work across major residential, retail, commercial, industrial and agricultural projects, with matters spanning:
- Planning and development approvals
- Property development and land use
- Planning and Environment Court litigation
- Environmental and regulatory advice
- Planning scheme amendments and approvals
- Infrastructure charging
- Vegetation clearing
- Environmental compliance and enforcement
- Compulsory acquisition and land access
- State and Federal project approvals
There is also a genuine client-facing element to the role. As you develop, you’ll have the opportunity to work directly with clients, become more involved in the strategic side of matters and take increasing ownership of your files.
About You
You will be a Lawyer or Associate with a minimum of 1 year PAE , gained within a Planning & Environment practice or in a role that has given you meaningful exposure to planning,
development or environmental matters.
You’ll likely be someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in developing a long-term career in Planning & Environment law
- Wants exposure to both advisory and contentious work
- Enjoys working on complex development and regulatory matters
- Communicates confidently with clients and other stakeholders
- Takes ownership of their work and uses initiative
- Values having experienced senior lawyers around them to learn from
- Wants greater responsibility and client exposure as their experience develops
You don’t need to have worked across every area listed above. A solid grounding in P&E; and the appetite to continue broadening your experience will be more important.
