The role

Are you a trade qualified and QBCC licenced plumber? We are looking for a Plumber to join our Water Reticulation team, based in Mareeba.

As a plumber with us you will undertake essential activities across the Shire relating to our water and wastewater programs. This is a hands-on role that involves maintaining underground utilities, operating machinery and working with live sewage and in confined spaces. While you will enjoy the lifestyle benefits that consistently working Monday to Friday brings, including one Rostered Day Off each fortnight, you will also be required to be part of an on-call roster for after-hours work on a rotating basis.

This role will also see you working in hot and humid climates on a daily basis. You will need to be able to pass a pre-employment medical assessment and ensure that you remain physically fit and able to carry out the tasks of your role.



This includes a requirement to maintain your weight below the Safe Working Load (SWL) limit for the seat of the machinery and equipment the position is required to operate.

What we are looking for

You will have a strong foundation in plumbing, along with an enthusiastic approach to teamwork and problem solving. You will bring well-developed communication skills and be able to provide training and mentoring support to apprentices within the team.

You will have

- A current QBCC Plumber and Drainer Licence and a current Queensland MR drivers licence (or be able to obtain an MR licence after commencement)
- Demonstrated experience working as a qualified Plumber, ideally with prior experience in town water and wastewater systems
- An understanding of water and wastewater reticulation systems and experience complying with WHS and environmental legislative requirements
- A Queensland Construction Induction White Card (or National equivalent) and Working at Heights and Confined Spaces competencies (or be eligible to complete these)
- Competency in operating plant including skid steer loader and excavator is a bonus

You will be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or have unrestricted work rights in Australia. You must be able to provide evidence that you can legally work in Australia upon request. Mareeba Shire Council does not offer employer visa sponsorship.
