About the role Join our Heath Wing 3 team as a Registered Nurse (Grade 2), providing high-quality, patient-centred care to paediatric patients. You’ll use your clinical assessment and nursing skills to support children and their families throughout their care journey, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to achieve the best possible outcomes.

This is an opportunity to develop your paediatric nursing expertise within a supportive team environment while contributing to safe, evidence-based care and a positive patient and family experience.

Key responsibilities

- Provide safe, high-quality and patient-centred nursing care to paediatric patients
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care using evidence-based nursing practice
- Establish effective communication with children, families and the multidisciplinary team to support continuity of care
- Monitor patient needs and respond appropriately to changes in clinical condition
- Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation in accordance with clinical, legal and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to quality improvement, audits, safety initiatives and a positive team culture

What we’re looking for

- Registered Nurse with minimum of 2 years acute nursing experience
- Previous paediatric nursing experience is desirable
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice

What the Program Offers

- 12 Months: 64 hrs per fortnight,



temporary part-time positions – commencing Jan 2027
- In affiliation with the Univerisity of Melbourne
- Opportunities to develop advanced clinical skills and knowledge required to care for pediatric patients within our Paediatric Unit on Heath Wing Level 3
- Education and clinical support provided by the dedicated Paediatric services education team.
- Eligible nurses and midwives are entitled to examination leave and study leave under the Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Sector) Enterprise Agreement.

Continued employment in this postgraduate nursing position is contingent upon the successful completion of all local clinical requirements and academic requirements associated with the affiliated University

University Hospital Geelong’s Children’s Ward is a welcoming, 28-bed general paediatric unit caring for infants, children and adolescents with a range of medical and surgical conditions. Our dedicated multidisciplinary team provides safe, compassionate and family-centered care, supporting children and their families throughout their hospital journey.
