Are you an experienced communications leader who can bring clarity to complex issues, guide a busy team and deliver communication that connects with diverse audiences? The QBCC is looking for a Principal Communications Officer to lead a small team, overseeing complex communication projects and campaigns, providing trusted advice to senior leaders and helping ensure communication activities are coordinated, effective and delivered to a high standard.
About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to combine your leadership skills, strategic thinking and communication expertise in a role that supports high-profile work across the QBCC.
In This Role, You Will
- Lead, coach and support a team of four communication professionals working across internal and external communications and events
- Plan and deliver complex communication projects and external campaigns
- Manage the work program and priorities of a busy, high-volume team
- Provide strategic communication advice to senior leaders and stakeholders across the QBCC
- Monitor, evaluate and report on the performance of communication activities
- Review communication materials and provide quality assurance to ensure consistency and corporate brand alignment
- Work with external agencies and media providers to deliver external communication campaigns
- Contribute to critical incident and crisis communication activities.
This position is based in Brisbane. While the role allows for flexibility in working from home, regular in-person attendance at the Brisbane office is a mandatory requirement. Please refer to the Position Description for a full list of key role responsibilities and suitability requirements.
About You
You are a confident and supportive leader who can set clear priorities, coach others and maintain quality in a fast-moving environment. You understand how to balance strategic communication needs with day-to-day delivery and can turn complex information into clear, purposeful communication.
To Be Successful, You Will Bring
- Significant experience leading and coaching a communications team, or comparable leadership experience in a related field
- Experience managing internal and external communications platforms, such as intranets, websites or marketing platforms
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering complex, multi-channel communications projects
- Experience monitoring and reporting on the performance of communications activities
- The ability to provide transparent and practical strategic communications advice to senior leaders.
Highly Regarded Experience
- Managing reputational risk and crisis incident communications
- Facilitating government advertising approvals
- Leading internal and/or external event delivery
- Qualifications in communications, marketing, journalism, public relations or a related field.
