About The Role The Principal Major Projects Officer leads the delivery of some of the City of Cockburn’s most significant capital projects, including major community and civic infrastructure initiatives. Current projects include the Wally Hagan Community Basketball and Sport Facility, Civic and Community Precinct redevelopment, Prinsep Park development, Former Council Office Building Restoration and Henderson Innovation Hub.
With accountability across planning, governance, stakeholder engagement, procurement, construction and operational handover, the role ensures projects are delivered in line with strategic objectives, approved budgets, timelines and governance requirements. The position plays a key role in building trusted relationships, managing project risk and strengthening organisational capability in the delivery of major strategic projects.
About You
You are an experienced project leader with a tertiary qualification in project management, engineering or a related discipline, and a proven track record delivering large-scale, complex capital works or infrastructure projects, ideally within local government, government or another highly regulated environment.
You bring exceptional project governance and stakeholder management skills,
with the ability to lead high-profile projects involving significant community, financial and organisational impact. You are confident managing multidisciplinary teams, consultants and contractors, while navigating competing priorities and complex stakeholder interests.
You are a strategic thinker with robust judgement, political awareness and outstanding communication skills. Your ability to establish disciplined project controls, drive accountability and deliver successful project outcomes makes you well suited to leading major projects that will shape the future of the City of Cockburn.
Project management certifications such as AIPM, PMP, PRINCE2 or equivalent senior project/program management credentials will be highly regarded.
