Bibra Lake

Process Engineer | Food Manufacturing | 6-Month Fixed Term Contract

Schnits Frozen Foods is a well-established, family-owned food manufacturing business based in Bibra Lake. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to improve, standardise and document operational processes across our business.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who understands food manufacturing, production equipment and customer compliance requirements and enjoys turning operational challenges into practical, sustainable improvements.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will initially lead two key projects: aligning process flows and standard operating procedures across operational areas, and assisting Maintenance to implement a new preventative maintenance system. Once these priorities are established, you will lead broader initiatives to improve efficiency, productivity, quality and compliance.

Key responsibilities

- Review and map operational processes to identify bottlenecks, waste, inconsistencies and control gaps.
- Develop and standardise process flows, SOPs, work instructions, forms and process controls.
- Coordinate implementation, training and follow-up reviews for new and revised procedures.
- Assist Maintenance to select, configure and implement a preventative maintenance system.
- Support development of the asset register, equipment hierarchy, maintenance schedules and reporting.
- Analyse production, downtime, waste, yield, labour and quality data to identify improvements.
- Lead cross-functional improvement projects and track whether intended benefits are sustained.
- Facilitate root-cause investigations into recurring process, equipment and quality issues.
- Ensure process changes support food safety, traceability,

own-brand standards and customer requirements.

Essential Requirements:

- Minimum three years' experience in a Process Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Continuous Improvement Engineer or similar role within food manufacturing.
- Relevant tertiary engineering qualification.
- Practical knowledge of food-manufacturing processes, machinery and maintenance interfaces.
- Experience mapping processes, developing SOPs and delivering cross-functional improvements.
- Solid understanding of food safety, quality systems and own-brand customer compliance.
- Strong analytical, project-management, documentation and stakeholder-engagement skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and translate technical information into practical solutions.

Desirable Requirements:

- Experience implementing a CMMS or preventative maintenance system.
- Experience in chilled, frozen, ready-to-eat or high-volume food manufacturing.
- Lean, Six Sigma, HACCP or project-management training.
- Membership of Engineers Australia or another relevant professional body.

Why Join Schnits Frozen Foods?

- Newly created role with the opportunity to make a visible operational impact.
- Varied work across process improvement, systems, maintenance and compliance.
- Autonomy to lead practical improvements from investigation through to implementation.
- Supportive team within a stable and growing WA family-owned business.
- Convenient Bibra Lake location with on-site parking.

How to Apply If you are a practical, hands-on engineer who enjoys improving how manufacturing operations work, we would love to hear from you.

Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your suitability.
