About the Role

The Tackling Indigenous Smoking Program aims to reduce smoking and vaping rates among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people through education, prevention and community engagement activities. Working as part of a regional partnership of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations,



you will help deliver innovative health promotion initiatives that empower communities to make informed choices about smoking and vaping.

Key responsibilities include:

- Planning and delivering community health promotion activities and events
- Coordinating activities for World No Tobacco Day and other community campaigns
- Delivering education sessions in schools, youth services and community settings
- Promoting smoke-free and vape-free environments across the community
- Supporting individuals to access smoking and vaping cessation services
- Building strong partnerships with local organisations, sporting groups, schools and community leaders
- Assisting with local media, marketing campaigns and social media promotion
- Monitoring and evaluating program outcomes and community engagement activities
- Working collaboratively with regional TIS partners to achieve shared program goals

About You

Essential Requirements

- Aboriginality is a genuine occupational requirement of this position under Section 65s of the SA Equal Opportunity Act 1984
- Previous experience in community engagement, health promotion or a similar role
- Current Driver's Licence
- Current Working with Children Check
- National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement).
- Evidence of compliance with PLAHS staff immunisation requirements including annual influenza
- Safe Environments for Children and Young People certification current within 3 years
- Hand Hygiene and Infection Control training to be updated annually
