Capital Projects Environmental Advisor

Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Capital Projects Environmental Advisor to contribute to Council’s success.

- Shape the environmental outcomes of Council's major capital projects across the Gladstone Region.
- Partner with diverse stakeholders to deliver sustainable and environmentally responsible infrastructure outcomes.
- Enjoy a permanent full-time opportunity with a 9-day fortnight and work-life balance.

About the Role

The purpose of this position is to support Council’s commitment to provide and promote an environmentally focused culture for all employees, contractors, visitors and members of the public. This role will partner with stakeholders to lead and provide advice in environmental planning, land management, compliance, and sustainability in the design, delivery, and management of council capital works projects, ensuring alignment with legislative requirements, council strategies, and community expectations.

You will bring:

- Degree qualification in Environmental Science or a related discipline and demonstrated experience in environmental compliance in construction or similar industry.




- Strong knowledge and application of environmental legislation, regulatory requirements, standards and approval processes.
- Experience in environmental risk management, environmental management systems, auditing, incident investigation and implementing corrective actions.
- Technical environmental expertise including environmental assessments, flora and fauna surveys, and ecological data collection.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated ability to prepare high-quality reports, provide evidence and build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively, applying sound judgement, problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
- Proficient keyboard skills and experience using Microsoft Office Suite and operating corporate business systems.
- Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
- Current Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card).

This position requires immunisation against Hepatitis A/B and Tetanus.
