Lakes Entrance

We're looking for a casual Regional Liaison Officer to support workers participating in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme in and around Lakes Entrance.

This is not your typical support role.

You'll become a familiar, trusted local contact for workers who have travelled from Pacific Island nations to live and work in Australia – helping them feel connected, navigate everyday challenges and access support while they're away from home.

That could mean helping someone get to an appointment, checking in when they're having a difficult week, assisting with accommodation or workplace concerns, connecting workers with community services, or simply being someone they know they can rely on.

What does the role involve?

You'll provide a combination of pastoral care, practical assistance, wellbeing support and community connection, including:

- Regularly checking in with workers and building trusted relationships
- Helping workers settle into life within the local community
- Assisting with medical appointments, transport and practical needs
- Supporting wellbeing and helping workers access appropriate services
- Providing advocacy around workplace, accommodation or personal matters
- Connecting workers with community networks and activities
- Liaising with host employers and MADEC
- Identifying concerns early and escalating where additional support is needed
- Supporting workplace health and safety requirements
- Providing occasional after-hours or time-sensitive assistance

You might have experience in community services, health, education, disability or aged care, employment services or multicultural support – but we're not looking for one particular career background. We're looking for someone who is approachable, dependable, resourceful and genuinely enjoys helping people.

You'll ideally bring

- Great communication and relationship-building skills
- Empathy and confidence working across different cultures
- Strong knowledge of Lakes Entrance and the surrounding community
- Experience supporting culturally diverse communities – highly regarded
- The ability to work independently and use good judgement
- A practical, solutions-focused approach
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel locally

Why being local matters This is a casual position, with hours varying according to worker and operational needs.

Our workers can occasionally need unexpected or time-sensitive support, which means being genuinely based within the Lakes Entrance community and readily available to provide local, face-to-face assistance is important.

If you want flexible work that gets you out into your community and gives you the chance to make someone's experience of living and working in Australia a little easier, we'd love to hear from you.

Join MADEC and help PALM Scheme workers feel welcomed, supported and connected in Lakes Entrance.
