We're looking for a casual Regional Liaison Officer to support workers participating in the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme across the Bairnsdale area.

For workers who have travelled from Pacific Island nations to live and work in Australia, you'll be a trusted local point of contact – helping them settle into their community, navigate everyday life and access practical and wellbeing support when they need it.

One day you might be helping someone attend a medical appointment, another you're checking in on their wellbeing, helping resolve an accommodation concern or connecting them with local services and community networks.

It's a unique mix of practical support, pastoral care, advocacy and genuine human connection.

What you'll be doing

You'll

- Build robust, trusted relationships with PALM Scheme workers
- Provide practical, pastoral and wellbeing support
- Assist with medical appointments, transport and accommodation needs
- Help workers connect with local services and their community
- Support workers with workplace and personal matters
- Advocate for workers and connect them with appropriate assistance
- Liaise with host employers and the broader MADEC team
- Identify and escalate wellbeing, safety or workplace concerns
- Support workplace safety requirements and toolbox meetings
- Provide occasional after-hours or time-sensitive support when required

Who we're looking for You might already work in community services,



disability or aged care, healthcare, education, employment services, multicultural support or another people-focused role and be looking to pick up some additional casual hours.

Or perhaps you're well connected locally, naturally good with people and looking for flexible work where you can put those skills to meaningful use.

We're looking for someone with:

- A genuine desire to help and support people
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities – highly regarded
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Good knowledge of Bairnsdale and the surrounding community
- Empathy, cultural awareness and sound judgement
- Confidence working independently and using initiative
- Strong organisation and problem-solving skills
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and email
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel locally

Local knowledge matters This is a casual position, with hours varying according to worker and operational needs.

Because our workers can occasionally require urgent or time-sensitive assistance, we're particularly looking for someone who is genuinely local to the Bairnsdale area and able to provide timely, face-to-face support when required.
