About Us

The Nepean Mental Health Centre provides inpatient care for people experiencing acute mental health issues through the short-stay Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (PECC), the Acute Mental Health Unit, Mental Health High Dependency Unit, and Older Persons Mental Health Unit. We support our Patients by linking them to case managers for ongoing treatment and support within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

An exciting opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse to join the Mental Health High Dependency Unit (HDU) within the Nepean Mental Health Centre.

This rewarding role offers the chance to further develop your skills in caring for patients with complex and acute health needs while delivering safe, compassionate, and patient-centred care. Working in a specialised and fast-paced clinical setting, you will provide care to patients requiring close monitoring, advanced clinical interventions, and a higher level of nursing support. What you will bring to the role

1. Current registration to practice as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
2. Demonstrated experience and clinical skill in mental health nursing as a registered nurse (including completion of a new graduate RN program or equivalent experience working as a Registered Nurse)
3. Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise work
4. Demonstrated evidence of being able to provide person centred care
5. Demonstrated effective communication skills – written and verbal
6. Demonstrated commitment to professional development
7. Ability to work a flexible roster, day, evening or night shift across all days of the week according to the unit/service requirements
