About us Not A Trace
Not a Trace Bakery is one of Australia's leading gluten-free bakeries, producing premium gluten-free biscuits, cookies and bakery products for retail, foodservice, and manufacturing customers. We are passionate about quality, food safety, and creating products that customers trust.
About the role
As we continue to grow, we are looking for a proactive, trade-qualified Reliability Supervisor to join our team and play a key role in keeping our plant and equipment running safely and reliably, helping us consistently meet our safety, quality and output goals.
Reporting to the Reliability & Engineering Manager, you will supervise a small team of Maintenance Fitters across the day and afternoon shifts, work hands-on with the tools, own line set-up and changeover quality, and be the maintenance function's daily point of contact for Production and Quality.
This is a hands-on working supervisor role - split roughly 50/50 between the tools and maintenance planning — not a desk role!
Key responsibilities
- Work with the tools on breakdowns, corrective and planned maintenance, fault finding and start-up verification across all plant, equipment and building services.
- Own line set-up and changeover quality across the flow wrappers, DOY bagger, cartoner, creamer, enrober and depositor.
- Build and hold the weekly maintenance schedule in MEX, manage the work order backlog to priority, and keep the asset register and preventative maintenance tasks accurate.
- Lead, coach and set the standard for a small team of three Maintenance Fitters across the day and afternoon shifts.
- Champion a safety-first culture: LOTO on every isolation, permits, JSA/SWMS and full compliance with food safety and GMP requirements.
- Restore production quickly when equipment fails, escalate in line with the breakdown escalation process, and complete a written handover every shift.
- Support critical spares, plan shutdown work, and induct and supervise contractors on site.
- Drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis on major breakdowns and quantified downtime-reduction initiatives.
About you
- A recognised trade qualification: Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or Electrotechnology Electrician with a current Victorian A-Grade licence, or equivalent.
- At least 5 years' post-apprenticeship maintenance experience in manufacturing, including 2 years in food or another hygiene-regulated industry.
- At least 2 years as a leading hand, trade supervisor, planner or maintenance supervisor, allocating work to other tradespeople.
- Hands-on set-up and changeover experience on high-speed packaging equipment (flow wrapping, bagging, cartoning and multihead weighing).
- Demonstrated CMMS experience for planning and scheduling, not only closing work orders (MEX highly regarded).
- Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP and a GFSI scheme (SQF, BRCGS or FSSC 22000), with audit experience.
- Sound application of LOTO, permit to work, JSA/SWMS and contractor supervision.
- A current Victorian driver licence and Construction Induction (White Card).
- Desirable: bakery, biscuit, confectionery or snack food experience, allergen-controlled or free-from manufacturing, RCA training, dual trade or electrical qualifications and condition monitoring exposure.
Advantages
- Be part of a growing, Australian-owned food business.
- A genuine hands-on leadership role where your trade skills make a visible difference.
- Modern, allergen-controlled site proudly nut-free and gluten-free.
- A supportive team and real scope to shape reliability and continuous improvement.
- Competitive salary and career growth across the Summit Group.
