Primary objective
Manage the Colleges Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Centre and assist with the implementation of curriculum programs and resourcing. Support the performing art faculty with student performances and the college’s ceremonies including stage production, lighting and sound.
Context statement
Casuarina Senior College (CSC), is an independent public school, located in the Darwin northern suburbs. CSC has a student enrolment of approximately 670 students, with 30 per cent identifying as Aboriginal. CSC caters for students in Years 10 to
12 by offering a wide range of Stage 1 and Stage 2 Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training subjects.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support administration and teaching staff in the development, implementation and evaluation of technology-rich STEM
(Science Technology Engineering Mathematics) initiatives, resources and curriculum.
- Safely operate and maintain specialised equipment and powered tools, ensuring they are regularly serviced, updated,
compliant and fit for purpose.
- Evaluate, design and monitor WH&S; practices and policies with maintenance cycles of equipment and machinery,
operation manuals and inductions.
- Assist the Performing Arts faculty with student performances and ceremonies in relation to lighting, sound and stage management.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven ability to implement pathways to industry programs by providing a cooperative and interactive approach with
industry providers.
- Demonstrated ability to safely and competently operate, maintain and support the use of specialised equipment and powered tools, including 3D printers, table saws, welders and similar workshop machinery in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.
1. Provide support to teacher’s with student assessments and lesson design using effective learning strategies based on
best practice.
1. Demonstrated ability to assist with promotion and organisation in relation to performing arts performances and
ceremonies with lighting, sound and vision.
1. Proven ability to demonstrate interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, and the ability to communicate
effectively at all levels.
Desirable
1. Extensive experience working within a STEM Centre or industry.
2. Recent experience working within a Senior Secondary environment.
Further information This position requires the ability to obtain a Working with Children (Ochre) clearance.
