The Role:
The Retail Performance Manager at Adelaide Airport is responsible for driving profitable sales growth, creating exceptional customer experience, and operational excellence across all retail stores within the allocated area of responsibility. Acting as a visible leader, the Retail Performance Manager coaches teams to maximise sales opportunities, improve conversion, enhance productivity, and achieve key business objectives while fostering a high-performance culture aligned with company values and behaviours.
What You’ll Do
The Retail Performance Manager leads and develops Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers, ensuring consistent execution of commercial initiatives, labour strategies, customer experience standards, and operational priorities across all stores within the area of responsibility. The role influences performance outcomes through coaching, leadership, analysis of key retail metrics, and disciplined operational management.
Customer Experience and Sales Performance
✅ Deliver regional sales and profitability targets.
✅ Drive sales growth and customer engagement.
✅ Analyse performance and implement improvements.
✅ Partner with Store Managers to achieve KPIs.
✅ Optimise labour and rostering efficiency.
✅ Ensure exceptional customer experience.
✅ Monitor store operations and standards.
✅ Drive accountability for business performance.
✅ Lead retail initiatives and campaigns.
People Leadership and Performance
✅ Build a high-performance, customer-focused culture.
✅ Coach and develop Store Managers and Assistant Store Managers.
✅ Conduct performance reviews and development planning.
✅ Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent.
✅ Develop future leaders through succession planning.
✅ Drive employee engagement and continuous improvement.
✅ Set clear expectations and ensure accountability.
✅ Support change management and communication.
✅ Lead by example and demonstrate company values.
✅ Promote learning and development across stores.
Operational Excellence and Retail Standards
✅ Ensure consistent operational standards across all stores.
✅ Drive merchandising, visual presentation, and brand excellence.
✅ Monitor inventory performance and stock availability.
✅ Ensure compliance with cash, payroll, and stock control procedures.
✅ Deliver accurate stocktake outcomes.
✅ Coordinate store openings, closures, and refurbishments.
✅ Maintain high store presentation and cleanliness standards.
✅ Improve productivity and operational efficiency.
✅ Lead continuous improvement initiatives across the region.
Stakeholder Relationships
✅ Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, airport stakeholders and landlords.
✅ Ensure all contractual obligations and service standards are met.
✅ Partner with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for sales growth and operational improvement.
✅ Represent the business professionally in all stakeholder interactions.
✅ Provide timely communication and performance updates to relevant stakeholders.
Sustainability & WHS Obligations
✅ Support waste‑reduction, energy‑efficient, and ethical retail practices.
✅ Ensure compliance with all company policies, security requirements and WHS legislation.
✅ Act as the site's nominated Return to Work Coordinator (RTWC), supporting injured workers and serving as the local contact for ReturnToWorkSA and internal stakeholders throughout the return-to-work process.
✅ Maintain confidential workers compensation and medical information with discretion,
and complete approved RTWC certification training within three months of appointment.
What We’re Looking For:
✅ Previous experience leading retail teams in a fast-paced environment
✅ Excellent communication and leadership skills
✅ A polished, professional presence and positive attitude
✅ Proven ability to inspire, coach and empower team members
✅ Flexibility to work a rotating roster (early mornings, late nights & weekends)
✅ Valid working rights & ability to obtain an Aviation Security ID Card
✅ RSA where required
✅ Return to Work Coordinator Certification (or ability to obtain and maintain; at Company’s expense)
