We are seeking an experienced safety professional to join our Safety & ESG team and contribute to the delivery of key safety programs, systems and initiatives across the organisation.

About the Role

Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Safety Specialist is responsible for supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of GPC's safety management systems and safety programs. This includes drug and alcohol management, fire safety, monitoring and assurance activities, contractor oversight and the provision of practical safety advice to leaders and employees across the business.

This 12-month fixed term opportunity is suited to an experienced WHS professional who can build robust working relationships, provide practical solutions and contribute to a positive safety culture across a diverse operational environment.

Key Responsibilities In this role, you will:

- Facilitate and monitor GPC's drug and alcohol testing program, including management of external service providers and contract performance.
- Coordinate GPC's fire safety management system and undertake Fire Safety Advisor responsibilities.




- Conduct assurance activities including safety interactions, audits, inspections and verifications.
- Support compliance with GPC's Safety Management System and ISO 45001 requirements.
- Provide practical safety advice and support to leaders and employees across the organisation.
- Assist in the delivery of safety improvement initiatives, projects and business plan objectives.
- Support occupational hygiene monitoring and surveillance activities as required.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of safety-related training and awareness initiatives.
- Prepare reports, analyse data and provide recommendations to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Bring

- Experience in a WHS Advisor, Safety Specialist or similar safety role.
- Strong understanding of contemporary safety management systems and legislative requirements.
- Experience managing programs, contractors and/or external service providers.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, compliance reviews and assurance activities.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- The ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
- A practical,



solutions-focused approach to supporting operational safety outcomes.

Qualifications and Requirements

Mandatory:

- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or equivalent)
- C Class Driver’s Licence
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC)

Desirable:

- Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Audit or Assurance
- Certificate in AIOH Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene
- Respirable Dust Monitoring competencies or related qualifications
- Experience working within industrial, resources, port, marine or heavy industry environments
- Fire Safety Advisor qualification
