Royal Perth Yacht Club is growing its Training Academy and we’re looking for passionate people to join us as Sailing Coaches and Sailing Instructors – Training Support.
This is more than delivering sailing sessions. You’ll have an opportunity to help shape and build the RPYC Training Academy — bringing your energy and experience to develop a solid, sustainable and inclusive training pathway for sailors of all ages and abilities.
We’re looking for a broad range of ages, genders, sailing backgrounds and experience levels. Whether you're an experienced coach, an established instructor, a competitive sailor moving into coaching, or someone with great sailing and people skills — we want to hear from you.
About the role
Lead and deliver engaging training for junior, youth and adult sailors, from Learn to Sail through to advanced racing. You'll plan and deliver on- and off-water training, develop sailing skills, confidence, tactics and race performance, work across Dinghy, Windsurf, Foil and/or Keelboat programs, mentor and support instructors and other coaches, build strong relationships with sailors, parents and members, and actively contribute to the development, systems and culture of the RPYC Training Academy.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver on- and off-water training
- Develop sailing skills, confidence, tactics and race performance
- Work across Dinghy, Windsurf, Foil and/or Keelboat programs
- Mentor and support instructors and other coaches
- Build strong relationships with sailors, parents and members
- Actively contribute to the development, systems and culture of the RPYC Training Academy
- Assist with on- and off-water training
- Support rigging, launching, recovery and boat preparation
- Operate support boats and assist with on-water safety
- Help deliver a positive, inclusive and enjoyable sailing experience
About you
- Passionate about sailing and developing others in a systematic and progressive way
- Positive, reliable, approachable and safety-focused
- Comfortable working with sailors of different ages and abilities
- Committed to rostered sessions, with timely communication around availability or changes
- Team-oriented and willing to share ideas and contribute to building the Academy
- Legally entitled to work in Australia
- Relevant Australian Sailing qualifications, RST/boating license, First Aid/CPR, WWCC and powerboat experience are required or desirable depending on the role, with some qualifications able to be obtained
