Primary objective

Lead category, sourcing, supplier and contract strategies across NT Health to improve commercial performance, manage risk and support safe, sustainable health services. Reporting to the Director Strategic Contracting, this role provides authoritative commercial advice and leads consistent, timely and defensible outcomes.

Key duties and responsibilities

- Strategic leadership: Lead category, sourcing,



contracting and supplier strategies aligned to NT Health priorities and service needs.
- Portfolio oversight: Maintain a forward program of procurement and contract activity, balancing priorities, resources, renewals and transitions.
- Complex commercial activity: Lead high-value or high-risk sourcing, negotiation and contracting from market engagement to implementation.
- Contract and supplier performance: Oversee governance, performance measures, escalations, benefits, disputes, variations,

transitions and close-out.

- Executive advice: Provide evidence-based commercial advice and maintain trusted relationships with senior, clinical, operational,

corporate and regional stakeholders.

- Governance and risk: Ensure compliance with legislation, Procurement Rules, delegations, probity, ethical conduct, recordkeeping and NT Health policy.
- Performance improvement: Use data to demonstrate value, identify risks and opportunities, and drive improvement.
- Safety and culture: Model NT Health values and contribute to a safe, constructive and accountable workplace.

Selection criteria

Essential

- Senior leadership experience in strategic procurement, category and contract management in a complex,



service-critical organisation.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, set priorities and deliver results in a changing setting.
- Extensive experience leading complex, high-value or high-risk commercial activity, including strategy, negotiation, implementation and benefits realisation.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability, translating spend, demand, market, supplier and risk information into practical strategies and recommendations.
- High-level knowledge of procurement governance, probity, risk, delegations and recordkeeping, including NT Government legislation,

policy and Procurement Rules.

- Highly developed engagement, influence and negotiation skills to manage competing interests and resolve complex commercial or service issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including concise business cases, briefings and performance reports.
- Sound judgement, integrity and resilience, with the ability to manage competing priorities, escalate material risks and drive improvement.

Desirable

- Relevant tertiary qualifications or professional certification in procurement, contract management, commercial law, business, finance,

project management or related discipline.

- Experience in health, government or another highly regulated service environment.
