As a Senior Commercial Analyst, you will join the Commercial Team and provide high-quality financial and analytical support across the business. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, you will work closely with senior lawyers and colleagues across Commercial, Finance, Legal Project Management, and Analytics & Reporting to deliver tailored reporting, forecasting and commercial insights that support informed decision-making The Opportunity
This is a varied and influential role for an experienced analyst who enjoys solving complex problems, partnering with stakeholders and turning financial data into practical commercial insights.
You will take a lead role in developing bespoke Legal Project Management reporting, supporting pricing and pitch activity, and improving the financial models and analytical tools used by the Commercial Team. You will also have the prospect to explore how approved AI tools can improve the efficiency of reporting, analysis and routine commercial activities.
Key responsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
- Build, maintain and enhance recurring and ad hoc Excel-based financial models and reports
- Monitor legal matter spend, budgets and financial performance
- Partner with the Head of Commercial and senior lawyers to understand business requirements and deliver tailored reporting solutions
- Lead the development and delivery of customised Legal Project Management reporting
- Undertake financial modelling and analysis to identify and evaluate performance trends across legal practice groups
- Support pricing proposals, including hourly rate calculations, fee estimates, realisation and profitability analysis, and alternative fee arrangements
- Maintain oversight of pitches and tenders supported by the Commercial Team
- Continuously improve pricing models, reporting templates and analytical tools
- Use approved AI tools to improve the efficiency of data analysis, reporting and routine tasks
About youYou are a commercially minded analyst who is motivated by complex work and enjoys developing solutions that meet the needs of different stakeholders. You combine strong technical capability with attention to detail, sound judgement and a proactive communication style. To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in commerce, business or a related discipline
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong financial modelling and analytical capability
- A self-motivated and curious approach, with excellent attention to detail
- The ability to manage competing priorities, respond to ad hoc requests and meet tight deadlines
- A strong sense of ownership and the ability to manage expectations proactively
- The confidence to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels
- A collaborative and team-oriented working style.
Experience with Power Query, Power BI or VBA will be advantageous, while SQL knowledge is highly desirable. Previous experience within a professional services environment would also be beneficial but is not essential.
