Build the configurator that will help transform how housing is designed and delivered in Australia. This is a pivotal, code-focused role at the intersection of computational design, product thinking and real-world delivery.
The Opportunity
As Senior Computational Designer, you will lead development of the Built Living Configurator, translating our Kit of Parts, building typologies and product rules into automated, code-compliant configurations. You will help move the platform from configurator build into live project use, creating the engine for faster and more certain delivery of buildable housing.
In this role, you will:
- Lead development and delivery of the Built Living Configurator
- Translate the Kit of Parts and product rules into automated, repeatable building configurations
- Configure and test Built Living’s core building typologies, including code compliance overlays
- Develop and maintain the codebase, rules engines and parametric logic that power the design pipeline
- Build scripts, tools and workflows that automate modelling, checking and option generation
- Embed planning, compliance and product constraints so outputs are compliant by design
- Integrate governed BIM library content and feed configuration learnings back into the product platform
- Document code, logic and assumptions so tools can be maintained, adopted and scaled
What we are looking for You are a senior computational designer who can combine advanced parametric design capability with strong coding skills and a practical understanding of buildable housing outcomes.
- Advanced Grasshopper and Rhino capability, supported by a strong computational design background
- Demonstrated Python, C#, API or software development skills applied to design automation
- Experience building configurators, parametric tools or automated design pipelines
- Ability to translate planning, compliance and product rules into structured automated logic
- Understanding of housing typologies, layouts,
yield and buildable design outcomes
- Experience with Rhino.Inside.Revit, Giraffe or generative design workflows would be highly regarded
- Exposure to DfMA, modular, precast or product-platform design systems would be an advantage
