Our client is a well-established mining company operating a large-scale iron ore blast and haul operation in Western Australia. With a strong reputation for safety, integrity and operational excellence, we are now looking for an experienced Senior Contracts Specialist to join their Business Planning and Commercial team on a Temporary to Permanent basis, a genuine chance to prove your value and secure a long term future with the business.

About the Role

Based in our client's Perth office (with occasional site travel), you'll take ownership of the day-to-day management of the company's service contracting functions. You'll be the trusted link between internal stakeholders and external contractors and suppliers negotiating and managing risk and ensuring every contract protects the company's commercial interests.

Reporting to the Contracts Superintendent, this is a hands on, high impact role where your commercial judgement and negotiation skills will directly influence outcomes across the business.

What You'll Be Doing

- Delivering strong contracting and commercial outcomes that maximise returns for the business.
- Managing the full contract lifecycle of Goods, Services, Take or Pay, Energy, Mining and Logistics.
- Overseeing contractor insurance and the contracts register.
- Leading invoice, claim and dispute resolution for contracted service models.
- Driving policy and process improvements to strengthen contracting compliance.
- Identifying and managing contracting risks to reduce the company's exposure.
- Building strong, face-to-face relationships with Perth and site-based managers, understanding their challenges and developing practical solutions together.
- Training internal stakeholders on contracting processes and procedures.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Law, Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline
- Solid background and experience in a blast and haul mining operations context
- Hands on experience preparing and managing Goods Supply, Service and Project contracts.
- A practical, commercial mindset rather than a purely legal one
- Strong commercial negotiation skills, backed by real-world experience
- Demonstrated experience across the full contract lifecycle
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A genuine interest in, and commitment to, a career in the contracting function

Desirable:

- Exposure to large-value contracts ($100M+ p.a.) or portfolios ($250M+ p.a. across multiple stakeholders)
- Advanced experience in dispute resolution, change management and risk management
- Previous experience using SAP
- Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Membership with a relevant industry body (e.g. CIPSA, AIM or CCMP)
