Company Description ARRC Gold Coast is a dynamic resource recovery and circular economy company owned by the City of Gold Coast. It operates the Advanced Resource Recovery Centre, a $1.6 billion state-of-the-art integrated recycling and energy precinct. The ARRC is designed to boost recycling capabilities, enhance remanufacturing and resource recovery, and generate energy from residual waste.
Its operations aim to divert up to 97% of residual waste from landfill, delivering a sustainable waste management solution for the Gold Coast and South-east Queensland. Team members contribute directly to high-impact environmental outcomes and the region’s long-term sustainability.
Role Description The Senior Engineer is a full-time, in office role based in Gold Coast, QLD. This role is responsible for leading engineering design, analysis, and optimisation of recycling, resource recovery, and energy generation systems within the ARRC precinct. Day-to-day tasks include overseeing technical projects, developing and reviewing engineering specifications, coordinating with operations teams, and ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
The Senior
Engineer will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with external consultants and contractors, and support commissioning, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The role also involves preparing technical reports, contributing to long-term asset planning, and supporting innovation in circular economy solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong background in engineering disciplines relevant to resource recovery, energy, or process engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental).
- Experience in design, operation, or optimisation of industrial plants, recycling facilities, energy-from-waste systems, or similar complex infrastructure.
- Knowledge of safety, environmental, and regulatory standards applicable to large-scale industrial and waste management operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects, manage stakeholders, and coordinate multidisciplinary teams in a technical environment.
- Proficiency in engineering analysis tools, technical documentation, and data-driven performance monitoring and reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor and support less experienced team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field; postgraduate qualifications and professional registration (e.g., Chartered status, RPEQ) are highly regarded.
- Experience in circular economy, sustainability initiatives, or resource recovery projects in an industrial or municipal context is advantageous.
