ASAP Start | 3-6 Months Contract Yeppoon QLD | Accomodation Provided $80-$90/hr + super

Our Client

Our client is a Queensland local government organisation responsible for delivering essential community services, infrastructure and corporate functions across a growing regional area.

The organisation is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to provide hands-on support across its broader Financial Services function. This is not a narrowly focused statutory accounting position. The successful contractor will work across financial and management accounting, budgeting, taxation, reporting, reconciliations, treasury, systems and business partnering.

This opportunity will particularly suit an experienced local council accountant who is comfortable relocating for the contract period and can quickly become productive in a TechnologyOne environment.

Why Contract With Us

At Charter Diligence, we go beyond just placement — we support our contractors with practical benefits that reflect real-life needs. All contractors engaged through us have access to early cash advances on approved timesheets, offering flexibility in cases of unforeseen expenses or cash flow challenges. Unlike traditional labour hire providers, we understand that life doesn’t always align with a pay cycle — and we're here to help when it matters most. Well, ask your mates if they’re already a Charter Diligence Contractor — chances are, they’re already benefiting from the support we provide.

About the Role

This is a hands-on Financial Accountant contract supporting a regional Queensland council during a period of increased operational demand. You will work across day-to-day accounting, management reporting, budgeting, statutory compliance and financial systems while partnering with internal business units.

The position requires someone who can operate autonomously and move confidently between operational and strategic finance priorities. The underlying position also covers annual financial statements, external audit support, budget variance analysis, month-end, taxation, treasury and financial system administration.

Current Australian council Financial Accountant positions similarly emphasise statutory financial statements, BAS and FBT compliance, asset accounting and managing competing compliance deadlines, reinforcing the need for a versatile local government accountant.
