Located in Doveton, the Casey Aboriginal Gathering Place is a home away from home for our local Aboriginal community. A culturally safe space that provides opportunities to strengthen connection to community, culture and country; providing holistic, responsive, and culturally safe services/programs, guided by community, to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of Aboriginal People in the City of Casey.

About the Role
n
n
- Lead and manage the Casey Aboriginal Gathering Place, a respected community hub that supports culture,
connection, wellbeing and belonging for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
n
- Provide leadership, coaching and support to a dedicated multidisciplinary team delivering innovative and culturally safe programs, services and initiatives for the local Aboriginal community.
n
- Drive strategic initiatives that strengthen Aboriginal self-determination, cultural connection, inclusion, community wellbeing and belonging across the City of Casey.
n
- Lead the implementation of Council's Reconciliation Strategy and contribute to the delivery of broader organisational priorities, including cultural inclusion, community wellbeing and strategic planning initiatives.
n
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with community members, Traditional Owners, Aboriginal organisations, service providers and key stakeholders to enhance outcomes for community.
n
- Strengthen Aboriginal community engagement by ensuring community voices inform planning, decision-making, service delivery and continuous improvement.
n
- Provide strategic advice and influence Council-wide practice to enhance cultural safety and deliver positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

What You'll Bring

- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and building trusted community relationships.
n
- Robust leadership experience with the ability to motivate, develop and support high-performing teams.
n
- Experience managing programs, budgets and community-focused services to achieve positive outcomes.
n
- Proven ability to build effective partnerships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
n
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community wellbeing, cultural safety, inclusion and the role of local government.
n
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, and Eligibility to Work check.
