About the job

Are you a Senior Accountant ready to make the leap into an Account Manager role? This could be your next move.

We're looking for someone who's ready to take real ownership of a client portfolio within a growing public practice firm. You'll work across multiple industries, partnering closely with a Director, and bringing your technical know-how, commercial thinking, and personal drive to a team that supports some genuinely high-performing and creative clients.

We're not just an Accounting firm, we've also got Legal, Wealth, R&D; Incentives & Grants and Marketing under one roof. The best Directors here use everything our SME-focused ecosystem has to offer their clients to ensure they are having their problems solved and achieving outstanding outcomes.

What you'll do

You'll be the go-to person for a portfolio of clients, managing the full-service delivery from start to finish. Day to day, that looks like:

- Being the main point of contact between clients, suppliers, and other third parties
- Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and internal reporting
- Reviewing and guiding the work of bookkeepers and accountants in your team
- Reviewing and lodging BAS, IAS, and super obligations
- Keeping client workflows and deadlines on track
- Cash flow forecasting
- Stepping in with advisory support when clients need strategic guidance, not just numbers

What you'll bring

You're commercially sharp, detail-driven, and comfortable in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

You say what needs to be said, you understand how professional services firms actually operate, and you bring fresh ideas to a team that's still growing.

- Advanced accounting software skills (Xero experience a plus)
- 6-8 years' experience in Australian Public Practice
- Solid technical accounting knowledge
- Experience managing and mentoring staff
- A track record of strong client relationships
- Time spent in a professional services or partnership environment (this one's essential)
- Genuine leadership experience — building and developing finance teams, not just supervising them
- A sharp eye for detail and a genuine interest in improving systems and processes
- Confidence communicating with, and influencing, senior stakeholders
- Experience building dashboard reporting (Power BI is a bonus)
- CA/CPA qualification (preferred, not mandatory)

Why Gild

Care is the whole thing. We care about our clients, our people, and the communities we're part of and that shapes everything else. It's why we communicate clearly and deliver reliably: those things build trust, and trust is what lets us grow together.

We take the work seriously. We don't take ourselves too seriously. You'll see the difference from day one.

What's in it for you

- Five disciplines under one roof, so your work never has to stay narrow
- Leaders who hold themselves to the same standard they ask of you
- Pathways to equity partnership

Sound like you? Please apply and let's talk.
