Brisbane | Full-time | Morgan Consulting Engineers
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Forensic / Structural Engineer with RPEQ to join Morgan Consulting Engineers in Brisbane.
This is an opportunity for an experienced Civil/Structural Engineer to apply their technical expertise in a different way – investigating structural damage, defects and failures, determining causation and providing clear, evidence-based engineering opinions and solutions .
You’ll independently manage forensic matters from initial instruction through to site inspection, investigation, technical reporting and structural design working with a range of clients and stakeholders.
What you’ll be doing
- Undertaking site inspections and forensic investigations into structural damage, defects and failures
- Assessing evidence, construction information and site conditions to determine cause and contributing factors
- Preparing clear, technically robust forensic engineering reports
- Providing practical rectification and remediation recommendations where required
- Undertaking Structural analysis of existing and new structures
- Preparing structural designs for remedial works and alterations to existing structures
- Preparing structural design sketches and liaising with our drafting team to prepare high-quality structural design packages.
- Managing matters independently from initial instruction through to completion
- Communicating technical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Providing technical guidance and support to less experienced engineers
- Contributing to the continued development of MCE’s forensic engineering capability
About you
You’ll ideally have
- A degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
- Current RPEQ registration in the relevant area of engineering
- Approximately 5+ years’ relevant engineering experience
- Experience in forensic, structural, remedial, diagnostic or building-related engineering
- Strong investigation, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent technical report writing capability
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles, construction methods, materials, defects and failure mechanisms
- The ability to confidently manage your own projects and priorities
- Robust communication skills and the ability to explain complex engineering matters clearly
- A current driver’s licence
Previous forensic engineering experience would be highly regarded, but we’re also interested in hearing from experienced structural or remedial engineers looking to move into forensic engineering . Experience preparing expert reports and/or providing expert evidence would also be highly regarded.
