The opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer (Surface Mining) to join our Open Pit Technical Services team.

Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, you will play a key role in leading mine planning and optimisation activities across our open pit operations, ensuring plans are practical, achievable and aligned with production objectives. You will work closely with operational and contractor teams to deliver safe, efficient and cost-effective mining outcomes while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.

This is a FIFO role (8:6 roster) from Perth.

Key Responsibilities

- Leading the development and delivery of short and medium-term mine plans to support safe and effective production outcomes
- Managing and optimising rolling mine plans, schedules and forecasts to maximise value and support business objectives
- Providing technical leadership and guidance to Mining Engineers and Graduate Engineers
- Monitoring mining contractor performance and ensuring alignment with mine plans, budgets and production targets
- Reviewing and optimising drill and blast designs, performance and fragmentation outcomes
- Overseeing pit, waste dump, haul road and dewatering designs to support operational requirements and achieve best practice outcomes
- Identifying opportunities to improve productivity, reduce costs and enhance mine performance through innovative mining practices and technology
- Leading continuous improvement, mining optimisation and business improvement projects across the operation
- Contributing to annual budgets, life of mine planning, forecasts and end-of-month reporting processes
- Working collaboratively with geology, survey, processing and operational teams to achieve site objectives
- Ensuring compliance with site safety systems, statutory requirements and company standards

About You

Desired Skills and Experience

- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering or similar discipline
- Previous experience in a Senior Mining Engineer or similar technical leadership position
- Significant open pit mining experience,



preferably within hard rock gold operations
- Strong proficiency with mine planning software, particularly Deswik and related mining applications
- Demonstrated experience in mine scheduling, drill and blast optimisation and operational planning
- A sound understanding of open pit mine design, haul road design, waste dump design, geotechnical considerations and dewatering requirements
- Robust leadership, stakeholder engagement and mentoring capabilities
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- A practical and collaborative approach with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Sound knowledge of WHS legislation and mining industry best practice
