Role Description This full-time Senior Project Engineer – Rail role is based in Melbourne, VIC and offered as a hybrid position, with both office-based work and some work from home flexibility.
The Senior Project
Engineer will lead and coordinate rail engineering activities across the project lifecycle, including planning, design review, technical assurance, and support to delivery. Day-to-day duties include managing project engineering tasks, developing and maintaining project plans and schedules, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and providing technical guidance on rail systems and electrical interfaces. The role involves engaging with clients and stakeholders, preparing technical documentation and reports,
overseeing risk and issue management, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards, safety requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
The Senior Project
Engineer will also support continuous improvement, mentor team members, and contribute to strategic advice for transport and government clients.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess robust Project Engineering and Electrical Engineering skills applied to rail and transport infrastructure environments.
- Candidates should possess solid Project Management and Project Planning skills, including scheduling, risk management, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
- Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, including stakeholder engagement, report writing, and presentation capabilities.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering (e.g., Track, Civil, or related discipline) and experience in rail or transport infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of rail standards, safety and assurance processes, and government or public-sector project frameworks is highly beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to work in hybrid settings, manage priorities across multiple projects, and contribute to a collaborative, inclusive team culture.
