3rd or 4th Year Auto Electrical Apprentice | Tuggerah, NSW | Full-time

The Opportunity
Already part-way through your auto electrical or mechanical apprenticeship and ready to keep building your skills?

CCGT is looking for a 3rd or 4th Year Auto Electrical Apprentice, or a Light Vehicle Mechanical Apprentice who is keen to build auto electrical skills and work towards becoming dual trade qualified.

You’ll join a small automotive repairs business in Tuggerah, where you can continue learning in a hands-on workshop that values workmanship, service and doing the job properly.

You will be employed by Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) and placed with the Host Employer for your day-to-day work. CCGT will support you throughout the rest of your apprenticeship while you continue a nationally recognised qualification, such as Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or another relevant automotive trade qualification.

This is a full-time role, working 38 hours per week, generally 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday to Friday.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing
You already have some trade training behind you. This role is about continuing to build your confidence, speed and skill in a real automotive workshop.

As your skills grow, you’ll continue learning how to:

- Install, maintain and repair electrical wiring in motor vehicles
- Work with electronic components in vehicles
- Inspect vehicles to identify electrical and electronic faults
- Test electrical systems and components to find the cause of malfunctions

- Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot complex electrical issues
- Support mechanical and electrical repairs on vehicles
- Assist with battery, wiring, lighting and accessory work
- Use workshop tools and diagnostic equipment safely
- Keep the workshop clean, safe and organised
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures

You will not be expected to know everything, but you will need to be ready to listen, ask questions and keep improving.

Why This Is a Valuable Place to Start
You’ll be learning in a local automotive workshop with:

- Hands-on auto electrical and mechanical repair work
- Real experience with vehicle diagnostics and fault finding
- The chance to build skills across electrical systems, wiring and components
- A potential pathway to become dual trade qualified
- Practical training with qualified tradespeople
- A strong focus on workmanship and service
- Regular CCGT check-ins throughout your apprenticeship
- Potential career pathway into full-time employment after completion

You’ll also receive paid full-time employment, on-the-job training and support from CCGT while you complete your apprenticeship.

After your apprenticeship, career pathways may include Qualified Auto Electrician, Light Vehicle Mechanic, Dual Trade Automotive Technician, Diagnostic Technician, Accessory Fitter, Workshop Leading Hand or Automotive Service Technician.

- Are a Light Vehicle Mechanical Apprentice keen to build auto electrical skills

- Listen carefully and follow instructions
- Ask questions when you are unsure
- Work safely and respect the team around you

- Have a driver’s licence
- Have your own reliable vehicle

Please include details about your current apprenticeship stage, completed training, previous workshop experience and any licences or tickets.
