Section overview The Radiochemistry and Environmental Sciences Laboratory sits within the Radiation Health Services Branch and is responsible for ARPANSA’s laboratories and field measurement capabilities required for the measurement of radiation in people and the environment. This includes maintenance of ARPANSA’s radiation emergency response laboratories.

Primary purpose of the role In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of ARPANSA's Radiochemistry and Environmental Sciences (RES) Laboratory Safety Uplift Project. Operating under broad direction, you will manage complex stakeholder relationships, project governance, technical inputs and delivery activities required to achieve fit-for-purpose laboratory infrastructure outcomes that improve safety, compliance and operational resilience.
You will act as the central coordination point between scientific staff, Facilities and Engineering, WHS, procurement specialists, contractors and executive stakeholders, ensuring the right expertise is engaged at the right time to support informed decision-making and effective project delivery.
The role is responsible for establishing project governance arrangements, managing project scope, budgets, schedules, risks and dependencies, and ensuring refurbishment activities align with laboratory operational requirements and relevant standards. You will support the successful delivery of infrastructure upgrades while minimising impacts on critical laboratory functions and maintaining stakeholder confidence throughout the project lifecycle.
