Expression of Interest: Senior Representatives for Ministerial Council.
The Canberra Region Medical Education Council (CRMEC), the Postgraduate Medical Council of the ACT, is seeking expressions of interest for senior medical representative/s.
The Canberra Region Medical Education Council (CRMEC) is a values-based organisation that respects and welcomes diversity, established as a Ministerial Council by the Minister for Health.
The CRMEC
- Performs accreditation functions for prevocational (PGY1 and PGY2) education and training programs (ETPs) in the ACT training region.
- Provides advice to the Minister for Health regarding medical education, training and welfare for prevocational doctors.
The CRMEC delivers and facilitates leadership and innovation in postgraduate medical education. Our stakeholders include the training hospitals in the ACT and linked rural facilities, the Australian Medical Council, the Australian National University, and other national postgraduate medical education councils. Council members include medical administrators, clinicians and clinical supervisors, medical education specialists, rural health representatives, doctors in training and consumers. Senior representatives will have an established career and robust track record in medical education and/or administration and/or accreditation, or a closely related field.
- The role of CRMEC members includes:
- Contribution to strategic and expert advice related to prevocational medical education and accreditation within the ACT network and nationally.
- Contributing to high level decisions on the accreditation status of health services on recommendation from survey teams, an Accreditation Committee and consistent with the national Standards.
- Building stakeholder relationships and facilitating networking of organisations with a stake in prevocational education and training.
- Collaborating with other CRMEC members, CRMEC advisors and the Secretariat.
- Attending 4-5 CRMEC meetings annually and responding to out-of-session requests for advice. Selection criteria:
- Demonstrates a record of achievement in medical education and/or healthcare administration and/or accreditation.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of the context of prevocational medical education and training, including its accreditation, in the ACT training region and/or Australia-wide.
- Demonstrates a strong understanding of welfare and safety of doctors in training in Australia.
- Demonstrates an understanding of conflict-of-interest management and ethical decision making.
- Demonstrates excellent communications and a contribution to collaborative teamwork.
Selection for Ministerial and/or advisory appointments to the Council will be made on advice from a Selection Panel. For applicants who are currently not employed in the public service or university sectors, remuneration (including superannuation) is determined by the ACT Remuneration Tribunal, Determination for Part Time Office Holders and/or CRMEC policies.
